365 Things To Do In Costa Mesa – Beat the Heat – Day 76

Moon Park

Summer has arrived just a bit late! A great way to beat the heat is to hit up some shade. A great place to do that is at Moon Park.

What is Moon Park?

Moon Park is a small, peaceful park situated at the back of the Mesa Verde neighborhood and set along the banks of the Santa Ana River Trail. The park has a couple of different play areas, picnic tables, access to a bike trail, and the most gorgeous green shady areas to relax in! There’s also sand to build sand castles in and of course the inspiration for the park – the 30 foot cratered moon replica! The park pays hommage to the astronauts who walked on the moon in 1969.

You can read more about the park and see a great slideshow at one of my favorite blogs to read, Fun Orange County Parks.

Hit the shade while you play and remember that at night the surface temperature of the moon is an average of -243 degrees Fahrenheit.
