The Costa Mesa Historical Society is great place to visit. There’s so much to learn from the experiences in the past… The famous philospher George Santayana said in The Life of Reason, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” Local community member Henry (Hank) S. Panian is giving a presenation at the Costa Mesa Historical Society on Sunday, January 23, 2011 on his new book, “The Cymerian Chapter.” Panian is a former history professor at OCC and has a great interest in environmental issues.
The book
The book tells the story of Cymeria, which is a dark, polluted planet consisting of only robots. A tiny explorer from the planet lands in the bedroom of a Costa Mesa boy and the two bond over the pollution that exists in Cymeria and the green, habitable society here on Earth. It’s a tale that will help readers realize the important of taking care of our Earth so that we aren’t doomed to a dark, polluted future. (Kind of reminds me of the movie Wall-E)!
