The Newport Aquatic Center was founded in 1982 and built in 1987 as a non-profit corporation offering the public unique opportunities in the Olympic water sports of rowing, canoeing, kayaking and outrigger canoe competition.
The Aquatic Center offers different camps for all ages. At their Kids Paddle Camp, kids will be able to explore the Back Bay while learning the basics of water safety, kayaking, outrigger paddling, and stand up paddling. The Novice Rowing camp is a two week program for ages 13-18 to learn the basics of rowing. Their Advanced Junior Rowing Camp is designed for returning High School Junior Rowing team members and rowers that have completed the Novice rowing camp.
They also host a wide array of events such as the Hal Rosoff Classic, a paddling race in Newport Harbor consisting of a short and long course for Outriggers, Kayaks, Prone, K1’s, C1’s and Stand Up Paddle Boards, among other things.
